CRT tests
Today we started the CRTs. I was impressed by how ready the students seemed to be for the test. I just wanted to thank all the parents that sent treats and water for the CRTs. The snacks are really helping to recharge the class and get them ready between the English and Math CRTs.

Week of April 20th-24th
I didn't really get a chance to blog this week, so I wanted to just give an overview. We have a lot packed in the next couple of weeks. The insect projects are due Monday. There is an assessment on Charlotte's Web either Thursday or Friday. There is also an assessment on insects on Friday. We are hoping that the class earns enough marbles this week to watch Charlotte's Web on Friday. The next week we will taking the CRTs. So we are trying to get what we can in this week.
A few students turned in their insect projects early. They were amazing. I didn't think of taking pictures until some of the students had already taken theirs apart. But here are two of them.

slops- waste food used to feed pigs or other animals.
captivity- to be held in a place under control by another
peered- to look or peek
compuctions- uneasiness caused by guilt
decency- meeting acceptable moral and social standards

glutton- one who eats large amounts of food; someone who can wwithstand a lot of something
goslings- a young goose

lair- the den of a wild animal

This is just a reminder, sweater vests are still required through the month of April. In May, students are no longer expected to wear the sweater vests.

Friday
The funniest thing happened this morning during AIL. I was having two students come up at a time for a little quiz off. The first one to grab the stuffed horse would get to answer. I paired two best friends against each other and one of them went wild. He was so excited to compete against his friend. He yelled at the top of his lungs, "Do you want to dance pretty boy?" I tried to keep a straight face. But then I just lost it. Where do this kids come up with these things?
We had our weekly drawing for a stuffed animal. The students earn tickets throughout the week. At the end of the week I draw a name and they get to pick a stuffed animal. The kids go wild over this. I wish I could just give them all one. The big score this week was a webkin.
If you would like to donate a stuffed animal towards the weekly drawing, you can just send it to school. I think I have enough for the rest of the year. But I could always draw more than one name.
I was organizing our games and realized that we could always use more. If you have any old games you want to get rid of, you can send those to school too.
